Nelson Marlborough FLS

We are a hospital-based FLS but we cover a wide geographic area, including 2 hospitals, with an often rural and elderly population.  Our service includes fragility fractures of hip, wrist, proximal humerus, lumbosacral vertebra, pelvis, tibial plateau, and olecranon for people 50 yrs old and over. Our case finding methods cover both inpatient and outpatient / community. We are well connected with hospital and community services and networks, and work in partnership with other community-based health practitioners (physicians, allied health professionals, falls prevention groups, etc).

Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital

Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital is a senior friendly hospital in Taiwan. We followed Best Practice Framework and set up a case management system  on identification and assessment for these patients and most of them are elderly. Dr. Chang and Dr. Chen were devoted themselves on secondary fracture prevention for a long time. However, some osteoporosis patients  are not eligible to DXA and anti-resorptive medication because of restrictions by Taiwan Health Insurance.
