Spital Bülach

Since 2025, Bülach Hospital has been certified as a Geriatric Trauma Centre by the German Trauma Society (DGU). Our Departments of Geriatrics and Orthopaedics/Traumatology work in close collaboration throughout the inpatient care pathway, with the aim of optimising patient outcomes and ensuring comprehensive, interdisciplinary care.

The outpatient follow-up clinic provides a structured assessment of patients following a fragility fracture. This includes a repeat comprehensive geriatric assessment, postoperative evaluation, and an individualised assessment of the need for osteoporosis-specific treatment, with or without bone mineral density measurement by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). Treatment recommendations are developed in close collaboration with our Departments of Rheumatology and Endocrinology to ensure an integrated and patient-centred approach.

Through our Fracture Liaison Service (FLS), we aim to strengthen secondary fracture prevention, ensure appropriate osteoporosis management, and contribute to the prevention of subsequent fractures as part of a comprehensive, long-term approach to fracture prevention.
