Mohammed V Military Teaching Hospital – Rabat

The Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) at the Mohammed V Military Teaching Hospital in Rabat was established in October 2025 as the first structured secondary fracture prevention program in Morocco. The service follows a coordinator-based model. A dedicated nurse coordinator is notified by the trauma and orthopaedic departments, the emergency department, and by the rheumatology service for vertebral fractures. All eligible patients aged ≥50 years are systematically referred to a dedicated weekly FLS clinic. Each patient undergoes a comprehensive evaluation including dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), mandatory phosphocalcic laboratory assessment, and fracture risk evaluation using the Moroccan FRAX® tool.Since its implementation, 85 patients have been referred to the FLS, of whom 55 were confirmed to have fragility fractures. The program aims to close the post-fracture care gap, ensure early osteoporosis management, and prevent secondary fractures through structured assessment and follow-up.
