Hospital Ribera Povisa
Hospital Ribera Povisa is part of the Ribera healthcare group and is the only private hospital in Galicia with an agreement with the public health system (SERGAS). It is a member of the Association of Galician Hospitals (AHOSGAL) and holds the Joint Commission International accreditation.
Our Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) is a multidisciplinary team comprised of rheumatologists, orthopedic surgeons, rehabilitation specialists, a case manager nurse, and an orthogeriatrician, serving a catchment population of 113,000 people.
We identify and manage hip and vertebral fractures in both inpatients and outpatients, providing comprehensive secondary prevention through follow-up in outpatient clinics. This unit is integrated into the National Hip Fracture Database.
In collaboration with Primary Care, the Rheumatology service leads primary fracture prevention initiatives, including patient education, lifestyle interventions and support for self-administration of osteoporosis treatments when necessary.
