Xinhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine
The Department of Orthopaedics at Xinhua Hospital, affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, is a national and hospital-level key discipline. It is a comprehensive clinical center for the full life-cycle management of orthopedic conditions, integrating medical care, education, and research. The department has 115 open beds and a staff of 38 physicians, including 7 chief physicians and 15 associate chief physicians, with 4 serving as doctoral supervisors.
The department has an independent laboratory center—the Institute of Musculoskeletal Injury and Organoid Translational Medicine—which includes 2 full-time researchers, 2 assistant researchers, and 1 laboratory technician. In 2021, the orthopaedic team was selected as an Innovative Team of High-Level Local Universities in Shanghai. The team includes 1 Distinguished Professor of the Changjiang Scholars Program (Ministry of Education), 2 Chief Scientists of Key R&D Programs (Ministry of Science and Technology), and 1 Chief Scientist of a Key Project in the National Defense Science and Technology Innovation Zone.
