Healthcare work

We attend hip-fractured patients as they arrived at the emergency room, prior to and after surgery until hospital discharge. Following current guides.

Treatment conciliation including osteoporotic individual treatment is explained written on the discharge report and verbally.

Osteoporotic treatment follow-up is done by primary care doctors or in our outpatient consultation to evaluate adherence and treatment effectiveness.

Training and Teaching

Every year our team updates on osteoporosis.

We developped a hip fracture assessment guide adapted to our population.

Residents rotation: Our unit has a specific rotation plan for residents in Traumatology, family doctors and residents in Internal Medicine and other medical specialties.

Investigation

We participate in national and international investigation groups:

Our hip fracture unit belongs to the Spanish National Hip Fracture Registry (SNHFR). This year we have been proposed to be awarded for the unit´s QUALITY.

We have collaborated with the Multicentric Multimorbidity Working Group de la EFIM (European Federation of Internal Medicine) 2023.

We have our own database and make studies and publications, end-of-degree projects and thesis.

We received a grant in 2022 from SEMI (Spanish Internal Medicine Society) for implementing the detection of osteosarcopenia.
