Trakya University

Trakya University Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department Osteoporosis Polyclinic has a large patient population, accepting patients from many different provinces in the Trakya region. The osteoporosis polyclinic has been serving with nearly 4000 patient records for approximately 23 years. Clinical, laboratory, densitometric and radiological records of each patient are archived in patient files and prevention, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up processes are carried out. Complicated patients are evaluated and their treatments are planned in a multidisciplinary osteoporosis council led by a physiatrist and consisting of endocrinologists, nephrologists, orthopedists and radiologists. We have a full-time FLS nurse in our clinic who examines all inpatient fragility fracture cases over the age of 50. Patients confirmed by the physician to have a fragility fracture are recorded in our national database.  Medical treatment is planned for the first 12 weeks, and during this period, the physiatrist provides pain management, appropriate exercise prescription, and bracing when necessary. Treatment, follow-up and secondary fracture prevention strategies are implemented through teamwork.
