The Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University, Hebei, China

Our Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) is based in the Bone Metabolism Subspecialty, Department of Endocrinology, at The Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University in Shijiazhuang, China. With a high-volume outpatient clinic averaging 450 daily visits — 10% of whom have metabolic bone diseases — we are well-positioned for comprehensive fracture prevention.

We operate our own DXA machine and routinely screen all diabetic patients for bone mineral density, generating a large clinical database. Detailed electronic health records systematically capture fracture history, including vertebral fractures, enabling accurate risk stratification. Our multidisciplinary team collaborates with orthopedic surgeons, geriatricians, rehabilitation therapists, and nutritionists to provide integrated care.

We identify high-risk patients through daily orthopedic ward referrals and outpatient screening, initiating individualized anti-osteoporotic therapy, calcium/vitamin D supplementation, and fall-prevention strategies within 8 weeks of fracture identification. Our dedicated nurse coordinators ensure structured follow-up at 6 and 12 months, monitoring medication adherence and refracture outcomes. We are committed to building a robust fracture registry to support quality improvement and regional outreach. Our goal is to reduce refracture rates, improve bone health outcomes, and enhance quality of life for fracture patients across Hebei Province.
