Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital

Hawkes Bay Fracture Liaison Service is based in Hastings, New Zealand, at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. The hospital serves our region of around 180,000 people.

The Lead Clinician is a geriatrician who has guided the service since it was begun in mid-2017; a physiotherapist runs the service, assessing people aged 50 years and older.

People suffering fragility fractures are case found through the hospital as well as primary care. Identification and investigation are done through the FLS. Intervention is via the GP or a specialist. The FLS has links to community and “in home” strength and balance classes.
