Region Hospital Randers

FLS Randers is a hospital-based Fracture Liaison Service established to systematically identify and assess patients aged ≥50 years presenting with a low-trauma fracture. Patients are identified through a systematic electronic screening of fracture diagnoses and referred for osteoporosis assessment and secondary fracture prevention.

The service provides fracture risk assessment, DXA scanning, relevant laboratory investigations, osteoporosis treatment and lifestyle advice according to current guidelines. Patients with an indication for pharmacological treatment are offered appropriate anti-osteoporosis therapy, and follow-up is provided to support treatment initiation and adherence.

The FLS is based on collaboration between relevant clinical departments, including orthopaedics, radiology and endocrinology. A digital workflow is being implemented to facilitate systematic identification of eligible patients and automated daily contact with patients after their fracture.

The service aims to ensure that patients with fragility fractures are identified consistently and receive timely assessment and evidence-based secondary fracture prevention.
