Hospital El Pilar in Guatemala joins the Capture the Fracture® network
The International Osteoporosis Foundation’s Capture the Fracture® (CTF) network continues to expand across Latin America. Recently, Hospital El Pilar in Guatemala was officially added to the CTF Map of Best Practice, making it the first Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) in Guatemala to join the programme and reinforcing the region’s commitment to secondary fracture prevention.
Hospital El Pilar is internationally accredited by Canadian Healthcare Excellence Canada (CEHC), reflecting its adherence to high standards of patient care. The institution highlights that continuous follow-up and long-term care are core pillars of its patient-centred model.
The hospital’s FLS is supported by a trained multidisciplinary team specialized in fragility fracture management and working proactively to improve patients’ bone health. The programme brings together multiple medical specialties, including geriatrics, physiatry, orthopaedics, nutrition, and ophthalmology, enabling comprehensive and coordinated care.
Ms Mónica Caló, regional manager of IOF Latin America, stated: “The addition of Hospital El Pilar reflects the growth momentum of FLS models in Latin America and the strong commitment of healthcare centres in the region to improving post-fracture care.” Welcome!
