We are implementing osteoporosis treatment interventions using clinical pathways for inpatients with proximal femoral fractures. For patients diagnosed with severe osteoporosis, we actively commence treatment with anabolic agents whilst they are still in hospital. For eligible patients, information is shared as appropriate during multidisciplinary conferences attended by orthopaedic surgeons, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, registered dietitians and medical administrative staff; where necessary, dental treatment is provided prior to the commencement of osteoporosis medication.
